This brand, registered in 1873, which was originally called \"Tonique Hygiène à base de vins généreux et de quinquina\" (Hygienic Tonic made from generous wines and quinine), but had to change its name under pressure from doctors in Montpellier—quite a story!—reached its peak in the 1930s before giving way to anise-flavored drinks in the 1960s.
