These six large dinner plates from the renowned Arcopal Marguerite Series will delight you with their refined, summery style. The floral motif on the plates shows signs of wear (reduced price). Arcopal's assembly process was a revolution in the industrial world of glassmaking. Opal, a resistant mineral, is combined with the raw material: glass. Their fusion is strengthened by a specific heat treatment called tempering, making the material three times stronger than conventionally manufactured glass and able to withstand sudden temperature changes. Arcopal tableware can therefore go from the refrigerator to the oven without any risk of shattering. The material is non-porous, making the containers perfectly hygienic. Byrrh brand glasses, from the French aperitif, that marked an era. On the glass's emblem, the gilded metal medallion, are portraits of: Louis XVIII (2 glasses), Charles X (2 glasses), and Louis XV, Rex, and Christianiss (2 glasses). Founded in 1866, it's one of the oldest aperitif brands. In the 50s and 60s, glasses with a gilded metal medallion were fashionable for promoting the product. A great story to share while enjoying an aperitif ;) They can be used for other aperitifs, water, the possibilities are endless :) How can you add a fun anecdote to your aperitif time with these glasses? It's aperitif time, and we're bringing out our beautiful glasses... A little piece of history while filling the glasses with whatever you like, of course. ???? These pretty glasses with the gold-plated medallion were fashionable in the 1950s and 60s for promoting perhaps one of the oldest French aperitifs, Byrrh. This brand, registered in 1873, which was originally called "Tonique Hygiène à base de vins généreux et de quinquina" (Hygienic Tonic made from generous wines and quinine), but had to change its name under pressure from doctors in Montpellier—quite a story!—reached its peak in the 1930s before giving way to anise-flavored drinks in the 1960s. The drink is still available on our shelves, but these beautiful medallion glasses are no longer produced.
