Assiette exceptionnelle, chef-d'oeuvre du célèbre artiste français Jean Lurçat (1892-1966). Il s'agit d'une assiette en terre cuite émaillée représentant un coq et réalisée dans les prestigieux ateliers Sant Vicens (Perpignan) dans les années 50 et 60.  L'objet est signé "J.Lurçat Sant Vicens" au dos: voir photo.  L'assiette est en excellent état, aucun éclat.

This very pretty statue depicts the Virgin and Child. It is made of plaster and is signed Merlini V17. It measures 51 cm in height. The details are very precise (faces, hands, etc.). This lovely Virgin Mary inspires serenity and affection. It is in good overall condition, without cracks or breaks. It shows signs of age: the paint is faded in some places, and there is a scratch on a fleur-de-lis on her cloak (see photo).

I absolutely love this magnificent painting! The artist has perfectly captured the architectural beauty of Brussels' Grand Place and imbued it with a warm atmosphere. The orange sky, the flowers from the stalls, the parasols, the jovial florist with the mustache—all of this creates a gentle summer day ambiance.
